Vita Fortunati was Professor of English Literature at the University of Bologna. She has directed for many years “The Interdepartmental Centre on Utopian Studies” in Bologna. She has coordinated European projects on Gender Studies, Cultural Memory and on “The Interface between Humanities and Science”. Her main areas of research are Modernism, Utopian Literature, Women’s Writing, the representation of female body, ageing and nostalgia. Recently she has published essays on Women
Transnational Literature, on Thomas More’s Utopia, Jonathan Swift, Katzuo Ishiguro, Ian McEwan, Uchronia , Utopia and Longevity and a book on Ecology and Pacifism in Aldous Huxley.
